Walking
Walking is one of the cheapest, easiest and simplest forms of transport to reach facilities within the Village.
Walking offers the greatest potential to replace short car and public transport trips, particularly those under a two-kilometre distance. It provides a healthy alternative to the private car and typically forms a component of many journeys made by public transport or by car.
From Causey Heights, it is easy to walk to local facilities with pavements and walking links provided along local roads to ensure you can easily and safely walk around the village to access local facilities on foot. There is a pedestrian link from Lilac Avenue to the Tanfield Railway Path which expedites pedestrian movement to Sunniside.
You can walk to a number of local facilities within 15 minutes from Causey Heights. To help out, we have summarised the distances and walk times to a number of local facilities which can be viewed in that section of this website. Bus stops are located in reasonable proximity to Causey Heights, within an approximate 5 minute walk (400m), with restaurants, convenience stores and public houses accessible in Sunniside Village Centre within a 10-15 minute walk.
